Terms of Service

General

The customer agrees that the price listed is subject to change if additional parts or labor are required.

Because some problems can have multiple causes, the most common price needed to cover the service is the one listed.

The customer will be contacted if additional parts or service are required.

On the same note, if a customer purchases a service that requires a part, but it turns out the service does not require the part, then a partial refund will be issued to the customer.

The customer understands that any repairs or modifications done to their console will void the game console manufacturers warranty, if the system is still covered under this warranty and that Console Repair Guy will not be held responsible for the voided warranty.

Refunds

If the gaming console can not be fixed, a full refund for parts and service will be issued, except under the following circumstances:

The repair service purchased is a custom request which requires the purchase of specialized parts and/or equipment that we do not normally stock.

or

The repair service purchased is "PS3 Yellow Light / Blinking Red Light / Overheating Repairs". There is a $39 non-refundable fee for this service to cover the cost of time and materials.

Repairs

When you use the online checkout system, the price is listed based on the most common parts and labor required to fix that particular issue.

However, there are some factors to consider:

  1. The customer is choosing the repair based on what he/she thinks the problem is, and they may not be right.
  2. Sometimes the same "symptoms" can have multiple causes. In some cases additional parts are needed.

If parts are needed that are not included in the base price, the customer will be contacted to see how he/she would like to proceed. If additional funds are required, they must be sent prior to ordering any (more) parts.

We cannot guarantee success on any repair because of too many factors.

Sometimes there may be more than one issue, that was not apparent before hand. In rare situations, I may have never seen the problem and cannot find a solution to it. Sometimes the hardware is simply "fried" and you are better off buying a new console.

In some cases, if the console requires opening, minor damage can sometimes occur to the case. This may be something like a slight crack near one of the connector plugs, a broken tab on a piece of plastic or minor scratches on the case. Unfortunately, I cannot offer any compensation for these incidents. These consoles are not made to be accessible and opening can cause damage on rare occasion.

If there is a hardware failure, aside from the original issue, while the system is in our possession, we will not be held responsible and you can either pay to have it fixed or the system will be shipped back to you as is.

The Xbox 360 and PS3 are both prone to Graphics Processor failure due to bridging or cold solder joints. This issue can happen at any time and it is common to see it happen shortly after other parts start to fail.

We have dealt with this issue several times before and even been falsely accused of causing an issue which is quite obviously a common point of failure, so we had to revise these terms accordingly.

Shipping

Shipping fees are non-refundable but in the rare event that your gaming console is not repairable you can chose to have it scrapped and receive a refund for the return shipping fee.

Unsanitary Work Conditions

If any system sent in is found to contain bugs, human or animal excrement (blood, saliva, urine, etc) or any other unsanitary substances, it will be promptly be sent back without warning. The repair cost will be refunded if it was paid for already.

Mods

Customers should be aware and accepting of certain limitations that modifying their consoles can have.

1. Recordable DVDs

Because Recordable DVDs are less reflective than store bought (pressed) DVDs, the laser on your Optical (DVD/CD) drive can often wear out quicker than is normal. This can be avoided by purchasing the highest quality recordable media (Verbatim is highly recommended). If the laser does wear out it can be always be fixed and previous customers are eligible for a discounted repair. Obviously this is not an issue when software is run from a hard drive, so we encourage this option wherever possible.

2. Compatibility of Software

There is some software (games) that simply will not work when trying to load from a different medium (recordable DVD, hard drive). The rate of compatibility is very high for most products, usually in the 95% or above range. This does not affect store bought (original) games.

3. Future Compatibility

Because the Console manufacturers are constantly trying to disable modifications through either updates to the console itself or a different way of making the software, there is no guarantee on compatibility with future software. The best way to ensure continued compatibility is to not do any updates to your console once it has been modded. Sometimes the games are made differently, in particular the Xbox 360 seems to be affected by this. Because the modified console does not know how to read these new games, it will not recognize it as a game. Usually there are upgrades/fixes/workarounds for these that are released shortly after the problem arises and it could certainly be upgraded by myself.

4. Online Services

Because you are connecting to the console manufacturers server, there is no guarantee that online services will continue to work after modding.
